About Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a heart-centered hands on healing modality in which the Universal Life Force is channeled through the healer to the participant.
It is a safe, simple, and natural method that works to relax the body as well as promote physical, mental, & emotional healing, to facilitate spiritual healing and awaken self awareness.
Reiki is unconditional, demanding nothing of either participant or practitioner. It is the Agape of life.
How Reiki Can Help You
Reiki brings the body, mind, and spirit into balance, thus promoting good health. It aligns the energy centers and opens blocked pathways.
Reiki is a pure-from-source frequency of energy that has the ability to re-organize the body on a cellular level to transform energies and eliminate disease.
Therefore, it can function as a simple remedy for stress or a profound tool for healing, personal empowerment and spiritual growth.
My Experience of Reiki
Reiki is one strand of the energy of Truth that is inclusive of all faiths and forms of reverence and connection, but not attached to any.
It adjusts to vibrate with the participant's own energy system and beliefs. Reiki connects with your soul-self and works from that connection. It is an energy that unifies us all...with Love, while allowing our diversity of beliefs or non-beliefs to coexist with joy and harmony within this amazing life we live.

About Mary-Joy
My Story
As a child, I was always asking the difficult questions about the workings of life.
"Why do some religions say their God is the only God?" "Why is committing a sin said to be part of human nature?"
Why are some children born into good families, while others are born into very difficult situations?
These are questions I would often ask as a young child. Unfortunately, the answers available did not make sense to me.
I was raised a Christian, but soon discovered that each religion holds the same thread of Truth that connects Humanity to the Divine. Because I liked science and understood its ideas, I also studied Metaphysics, as well as, Buddhism, Taoism, and Native American Spirituality. The idea that "truth is inherent and lies within" felt right to me. Thus, the search for 'truth' became the foundation of my spirituality.
As a result, I believe that the energy of God Consciousness lives within every being and every thing.
In my twenties, I realized that dancing was the only expression that connected me to my spiritual self. I was passionate about the movement and pursued it to support myself financially. I became a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer. In my classes, I encouraged my students to express their innermost essence through movement. During this time I discovered that movement is a valuable vehicle for self-study, expression, awareness and empowerment.
While teaching dance, I continued to explore my spirituality by studying other cultural beliefs.
This search led me to visit Sagmatha, the Mother Goddess Mountains of the Himalayas, where I met and chanted with Zen Buddhist monks in exile. This and other spiritual experiences reaffirmed my belief that the "Light of Truth" lives within each of us.
But it was the discovery of Reiki that guided me onto a specific Spiritual Path. Reiki allowed me to understand myself and my role in this life. It fostered in me the experiences that have developed into Divine Quantum
Reiki, Reiki/Sound Healing, Reiki Breathing, ReikiDance International and Reiki Brain Rewiring.
I believe: "Everything is self-healing. It is a choice to be whole and happy. Personal work is often difficult, but always rewarding. In 1973, Mary-Joy acquired a BA in Dance from the University of California, Riverside and in 1989 an MA in Physical Education with a Dance Emphasis from San Diego State University.
Mary-Joy taught modern dance, rehearsal and performance, pedagogy, the history of dance, jazz, and creative dance, at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA for eighteen years.
In 1976 Mary-Joy received a Healing Initiation & Certification in the Aquarian Church of the Masters.
In 1987, she experienced the Level I attunement in the Usui Reiki Method of Natural Healing.
And in 1988 Mary-Joy started her Business: "Due Healing and Movement Arts"
In 1992, she became a Reverend and a Reiki Master Teacher. In that same year, she received certification as a Bio-Kinetics Facilitator. In 2017 Mary-Joy became a Registered Holy Fire III/Karuna Reiki Master Teacher and in 2018, a Jikiden Practitioner.
In 1997, Mary-Joy retired from her professional dance career, but continued to use energy and movement as a spiritual healing art.
In 2001, she completed the MFA program in Theatrical Lighting from San Diego State University. This experience helped her realize that light and movement, for her, were intertwined. Symbolically, showing her that ‘light illuminates’ and brings clarity to that which is in darkness.
Instinctively, she has always relied on movement and light to self-heal.
In 2004 Mary-Joy received a certification in the Marcel Vogel Crystal Healing Method.
In 2009, she received a certificate from Supreme Science QiGong Teacher Training Seminar.
In 2014 Mary-Joy began to experiment with Quantum Healing and the understanding that whole systems, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually can be upgraded to accommodate an evolving consciousness.
In 2017, she received a Sound Healing Certificate from Globe Institute in San Francisco.
In 2023 Mary-Joy studied EMDR, creating RBR - Reiki Brain Rewiring to facilitate mental rewiring of outdated behaviors residing in the mind, on the subconscious level.
Mary-Joy is currently Vice President of San Diego Reiki Corps, former President 2017-2020.
